Fade Kings, R&B, Blues, Jazz, and Classic Rock in the Quinte area

The Fade Kings bring a unique perspective to the Blues. Formed in 1992, the band has developed a distinctive sound characterized by solid grooves, compelling melodies, and strong musicianship, fusing multiple music genres into a musical tour de force. Their music is steeped heavily in the blues and R&B, with influences of soul, jazz, roots traditional, Latin and rock, creating an exciting and unique sound.

The Fade Kings have built a loyal following at various venues throughout southeastern Ontario, including:

Limestone City Bluesfest - Kingston
Prince Edward County Jazz Festival
Loyalist End of Winter Blues Festival
Cobourg Waterfront Festival
Belleville Waterfront Festival
Westben Festival Arts Theatre
Wingfield Farm Jazz & Blues Festival
Quinte RibFest

The Fade Kings were selected in 2008 and 2009 to represent the Loyal Blues Fellowship at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. CBC Radio, CKLN 88.1 FM (Toronto), CFRC (Queen's University), CKOL, CJLX (Loyalist College Radio) and KWE 105.9 FM have all featured tracks from their CD "Years to Recover".

The band is extremely versatile, playing large concert venues and intimate clubs with equal ease. In addition to music festivals and club dates, the Fade Kings are also available to entertain at corporate special events and private functions. They have also performed at fundraising events for causes important to the band (see Giving Back).

Based in Ontario's Quinte area, the Fade Kings are John 'Jake' de Vries (bass & vocals), Eric Fry (guitars & vocals), Dave Impey (drums & vocals), and Leigh Moore (keyboards & vocals). Sax player extraordinaire Ian Kojima also frequently joins the Fade Kings on stage.

"The Fade Kings do anything but fade... they positively wail! A solid group of mighty fine musicians, they were a big hit with the crowd at the Limestone City Blues Festival..... This band is good! They obviously enjoy playing together, and they do it so well, producing music that you just want to get up and dance to...I hear mixes of R&B, soul, latin, funk, and jazz/blues. All very well-done, all characterized by good musicianship."
Ron Dickenson, Buff Blues, CFRC-FM

"Amazing groove is set down by these county boys…."
Loyal Blues Fellowship

"This is just one of those bands you want everyone to hear! They are that good! We had very good feedback from all involved, all saying how incredibly tight the band played."
Steve Bartlett, Wingfield Farm Blues & Jazz Festival

"The Quinte Business Network and friends were entertained by The Fade Kings, who took to the stage….They were fabulous and the evening was a great success."

Special Guests: Ian 'Koko' Kojima

Ian 'Koko' KojimaI was born a poor black child.... oops wrong Koko...

"Koko" has spent more than 40 years in the music profession as a multi-instrumentalist (saxophones, guitars, and keyboards), musical director, composer, and arranger. A career 'road warrior', he has travelled around the world touring with Chris de Burgh, the Stampeders, David Hasselhoff, BB King, Rick James, Ken Tobias, and countless others. After thousands of concerts, television shows, and personal appearances, Ian has retired in Kingston. An opportune encounter with good friend and former bandmate Leigh Moore (Ebony Jam) after 30 years, has led to Ian's frequent guest appearances with the Fade Kings as a saxophonist and sleigh bells player (at which he EXCELS).
